Lakeside
Stonestown is home to San Francisco State University and the enclosed mall known as Stonestown Galleria. Lakeside, a mostly-residential neighborhood, is just to the north and east. Once the site of horse racing, roadhouses and farms, the area has given way to colleges, shopping, the nearby zoo, golf course, lakes and a municipal park. The area has lots of well-kept green space, and proximity to the Pacific Ocean provides many outdoor recreational opportunities. The residential areas are very peaceful in spite of the busy streets nearby.
